Adventures in Substitute Teaching
Posted 4 years ago. Last Friday was my last day substitute teaching for my husband. I will miss the good and remember the bad. My goal was to show kids that just because you are different does not mean you are not “normal” ewwa I hate that word. Normal is a social construct. Everyone is different and there is beauty in that diversity. I shared and showed that - you can be yourself and be successful. Fast-forward to 2016... I feel that this is still true today. I always share with students and professionals that authenticity is valued and appreciated. We are all unique diverse individuals and there is power in those differences; power to change perceptions, ideology, and negativity. What is normal...honestly? Never devalue your individuality to concede to this so called idea of "normal". Have the courage and confidence to be different!
